HOW
does
HOW DOES A MICROCHIP WORK? Microchipping is a very simple procedure. A microchip for pets, about the size of a grain of rice (12mm), is injected beneath the surface of your pets’ skin between the shoulder blades. The process is similar to a routine injection and takes only a few seconds. Your pet will not react any more than he/she would to a vaccination. Remember this is not a tracking device.

WHY MICROCHIP? All furkids should wear collar tags imprinted with their name and the phone number of their pawrent, but only a microchip provides permanent ID that cannot fall off, be removed, or become impossible to read.

Complete a form and provide consent to the microchipping before the procedure is done. You will be responsible to keep your info up to date on the ‘GetMeKnown’ database.

REGISTER NEW ACCOUNT
To perform any account related action on GetMeKnown (http://www.getmeknown.co.za/) you’ll need an account, and creating one is quite easy. To start head over to http://www.getmeknown.co.za/account/register and start the process.
REGISTER A MICROCHIP
After you have created a account you will need to Login (http://www.getmeknown.co.za/account/login), this is done by providing the E-Mail Address you used to register and the password for your account. To create a Microchip click on "Register Microchip" and follow the directions on the next screen. You will then be asked to Provide your Microchip Number. A Microchip Numbers consists of 15 Digits. Please verify correctness. Complete all the required fields. View all your registered pets –just click “account”.
PRINT OR E-MAIL CERTIFICATES
After registration of a microchip, you can view, print or e-mail the certificate. Should you need a copy later, login to your account and press “Certificate” next to the desired microchip number.

ABOUT THE MICROCHIPS
We use GETMEKNOWN microchips. It is a permanent identification chip that is implanted just under the animal’s skin between the shoulder blades in the neck. It must be scanned with a microchip scanner at close range. You must register the microchip online and then when the database is searched you are identified as the owner. Microchips adhere to ISO Standard 11784/85 FDX-B 15 digit international standards and is also ICAR recorded. More info available at www.getmeknown.co.za
